The orange…mother nature’s delicious fruit. Most of us enjoy a glass of orange juice once in a while. It’s a popular addition to a hardy breakfast. However, orange juice can be unhealthy when it is highly processed and contains pesticides and additives. We at Health Empowered You recommend organic oranges because they are less likely to be contaminated with pesticides. Besides tasting good to most of us, oranges can improve our health, our emotions, and our cleaning routines. Health Empowered You reveals 11 ways to use oranges to our benefit. The benefits of oranges include:
Healing with Whole Foods (book review can be found here) reminds us that oranges tend to cleanse, cool, moisten, and aid digestion. The high vitamin C/bioflavonoid content helps weak gums and teeth while the anti-inflammatory properties help with diseases such as arthritis. However, oranges can also weaken and cause dampness due to their acid content and sweet flavor. Signs of dampness include water retention, yeast overgrowth, fatigue, sluggishness, and emotional heaviness. If you have these symptoms oranges might not be right for you at this time.
As with any food, some people can be allergic to oranges. Please check with your doctor before changing anything in your diet, fitness, or supplementation routines. Did you know that January is the beginning of the harvest for oranges? Of course, at Health Empowered You we always choose organic fruit and recommend you consider organic as well. The fewer toxins we are exposed to the healthier we can be. To make it easier to get oranges at the peak of the harvest, we even found a Fruit of the Month Club that delivers organic oranges to your door in January! Have you found an interesting way to use oranges? Do you have a favorite orange dish? Tell us about it!
