Ever find yourself in agony just trying to go to the bathroom? Typically your visit to the doctor ends with a diagnosis of a urinary tract infection (UTI) and a prescription for an antibiotic. This was a recurring theme for one of my clients that lasted nearly two decades. She was actually told by urologists she might have to take antibiotics for the rest of her life to prevent UTIs. Needless to say this is not something she wanted to do but she also knew that her urinary tract was being compromised by these recurring infections... After years of this issue, she discovered Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN). She was very interested in determining the root cause of some issues she had been experiencing over the years and thought FDN might be a way to do so. She was amazed at what we found. When it came to UTIs, she finally uncovered the root cause. After completing the FDN testing including a stool test, she discovered that she had a bacterial infection called Citrobacter. Citrobacter is a bacteria found pretty much everywhere - our soil, water, etc. It is known that Citrobacter can be antibiotic resistant and can cause urinary tract infections. Ah ha!!!! This is why she never got better even after taking antibiotics for six straight months!!!! I do not blame the doctors for not figuring this out since they are not really taught to look for parasites and stealthy bacteria like Citrobacter. In fact, she never heard the term 'stool test' until she started FDN.
Fast forward, a few months after the FDN testing and completing the FDN protocol and she is now Citrobacter and UTI free! Sometimes you just have to empower yourself to improve your health! :-) This example doesn't mean that all UTIs are caused by Citrobacter. It means that you should always try to dig for the root cause and look beyond the immediate diagnosis - especially for recurring or chronic health issues. Do you have a root cause story to share?
